Pencalenick has been designated as a SEN Specialist School for Communication and Interaction.
This both celebrates the quality of the work of the whole school in this area and recognises Pencalenick as a keystone of specialist provision in Cornwall.
This designation has released resources which enable us to focus sharply on developing the communicative skills of our pupils. In tandem with this we can further develop the skills of our staff in specialist techniques which will help our pupils to communicate and interact more effectively, thereby improving their access to the curriculum and hence their opportunities both throughout their time in school and beyond.
The Pencalenick Communication and Interaction Team is involved in developing increasingly effective and purposeful partnerships with mainstream schools, central support services, parents, carers and the business community.
We have particularly strong connections with Penair, Richard Lander, Budehaven, Saltash, Penryn, Brannel, Bodmin, Launceston and the Roseland, all of which are schools for secondary age pupils, and Truro College.
