We believe in learning from and sharing best practice from internal and external sources, and have an active enquiry based learning initiative to help build capacity and link research to classroom practice. While most of our outreach is focussed in the secondary phase, and some specifically commissioned by the LA to support secondary ARBs, we do offer more general mainstream advice and support where appropriate, often at no cost. SEN and Drama AST
Highly experienced and skilled AST with a successful background in mainstream and SEN offering:Support for teachers of pupils with special needs in Communication and Interaction through Drama and EnglishDelivering workshops alongside the class teacher to groups of studentsCPD for staff on developing and preparing the curriculum to meet different needs
The C&I Team
The team consists of a group of highly skilled speech and language therapists, outstanding teachers, educational psychologist and specialist support staff offering:Triage visits from either the Speech, Language and Communication Therapist or C&I teacher to talk through specific concerns for individual students and to sign post servicesCPD, which is tailor made to address specific staff requirementsAdvice on differentiating the curriculum to meet the needs of students on P levelsAdvice or CPD on the association between poor communication skills and behaviour and the subsequent inability to access the curriculum, advice on effective resources and parent workshops
Coaching and Leadership Development Consultancy (NLE/NSS)
Highly qualified and successful school leader, School Improvement Partner, National Leader in Education and qualified leadership coach offering:Individual or team coaching in relation to change management, dealing with conflict, project management or career progressionEnhancing emotional and social literacy in leadership teams, personality traits and their impact on improvement and teamwork, performance management, accountability and listening skillsSupport offered in a bespoke manner, depending on specific needs, and can take the form of individual, team or whole school support or CPD
Outreach support can be delivered through telephone, video conferencing, email or face-to-face meetings and/or CPD. It has proved very useful to offer visits or placements to the school for other practitioners and we have the facilities to deliver CPD for teachers and Teaching Assistants on site if required.
We do not believe that we have all the answers, but are passionate about developing our own learning, skills and expertise, whilst enabling the networking and sharing of best practice across Cornwall.
