Changes to Free School Meals Criteria 2018
From 1 April 2018 the Government intends to enter a ‘roll-out period’ whereby eligibility for Free School Meals will begin to be assessed by new Universal Credit criteria. The roll-out period is due to last until March 2022.
Under the new criteria, families will be eligible for Free School Meals where their net earnings are less than £7,400. This replaces the existing ‘eligible benefits’ based criteria.
You do not need to amend your procedures as the eligibility checks undertaken for you by the Local Authority Free School Meals Team will take into account the new criteria and assessment processes from 1 April 2018 and determine entitlement accordingly. For now, families should continue to use the existing Free School Meals claim form, although we will in time be updating this to include the new criteria as well as to take into account new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) coming into effect in May 2018.

Welcome to our school

Together Everyone Achieves More
We provide special education for 120 pupils from Year 5 to Year 11 who have been identified through their Education Health Care Plan as being in need of a specialist provision due to their complex learning difficulties, associated anxieties and social needs. Our catchment area is the whole of Cornwall. We are able to offer weekly or short-term boarding places; a feature of our school that extends the range of our education programmes.

We are proud to be a member of the Special Partnership Trust, an ambitious and inspiring collaboration of specialist provision in Cornwall, with a focus on excellence in learning for everyone. We are formed to ensure that every child, irrespective of need or location, gets the best learning opportunities possible. We believe in providing challenge and support in equal measure to our pupils, nurturing the talents and skills of all learners.
