A Welcome from the Chair May 2017
On behalf of the Governors of Pencalenick School, I welcome you to our Website which is now up and running and we hope you find both informative and enjoyable.
Pencalenick School is now part of The Special Partnership Trust, specialising in Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities, registered at Companies House. Governors are Directors of the Company and we are bound by Company Law.
Going from an Academy School to a Multi School trust has seen a massive change in the last year, and although we are now partners with three other schools, we still operate our School through our Local Governors.
One major change is that Andy Barnett is now the CEO of the Special Partnership Trust, and Helen Campbell is Head of School.
The Full Governing Body meets once a term to run the Strategic Business of the School. All details of Governors interests and responsibilities can be found under the headings ‘Professional’ / ‘Governors’, on the website, as is contact information.
We recognise that effective governance is an essential part of the success of Pencalenick School. We have a key role in decision-making and both support and challenge our strong Senior Management Team, with whom we have an excellent relationship. This, we believe, will ensure the School is providing the best education and care for its pupils. We are also responsible for pastoral management, including our excellent boarding facility.
On a more informal note, we are all proud and privileged to be part of this very special school where we provide a broad education, including the National Curriculum, where children feel safe, happy and looked after by the hardworking and dedicated staff, responsible for their care. We aim, as they leave us at the end of Year 11, to have given our young people, not just academic achievement, but also the skills and confidence to move on to their Post 16 lives. They deserve the best!
