'General Election' Fever Strikes at Pencalenick!

11th May 2015

On May 7th the pupil population were given the opportunity to replicate the real events of the day.  Voting took place in a realistic Polling station and a large number of pupils queued up at morning break to cast their votes in the KS3 and KS4 constituencies. Polling cards were brandished, ballot papers issued, votes made in the booths and results processed by the Maths department in the afternoon. The Life Skills groups produced a Powerpoint presentation for a whole school assembly where the two Returning Officers delivered the results. School life does mimic the real world as the Pencalenick Electorate produced results that mirrored the National Picture. Conservatives came first and Labour second!

A fantastic exercise following three weeks of preparation in PSHE lessons about our democratic process...............and only two spoiled papers in total!
