Sport Premium

SPORT PREMIUM 2022-2023

What is the Sport Premium?

The government is continuing to provide additional funding for the academic year 2022 - 2023 to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. Pencalenick School will receive £9,000 in this academic year.

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but we have the freedom to choose how we do this.

At Pencalenick this funding is allocated to our two primary ARBs - Falmouth and Mount Charles and will be spent on improving the provision of PE and sport at each site, to develop and or add to the PE and sport activities that we already offer, whilst making improvements that will benefit future pupils.

Swimming Data

Whilst we recognise the importance of our children being able to meet the national curriculum requirements for swimming and water safety, due to the geographical location of our ARBs and the situation coming out of the pandemic, we have found it impossible to access the local swimming pool and have regrettably not been able to offer swimming opportunities at this time.  This is an area that we are currently addressing and remain hopeful that a solution can be found and will update the website accordingly. Some pupils are able to access some swimming opportunities through our links with our mainstream school partners.
